sir,
I am commanded by their Council to refer to
Foreign Office letter of the 1st September, F 7182/29/10
transmitting a copy of a despatch from l.M. Ambussador at
Washington relative to the construction of an aerodrome at
Kowloon.
In reply I am to acquaint you, for the information
of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, that the
Council are still in correspondence with the Colonial
Office relative to the financial arrangements between H.M.
Government and the Government of Hong Kong in connection
with the acquisition of the site. The Council have been
consulted with regard to the proposed lay out of the site
but not with regard to the erection of any buildings, and
so far as they are aware there is at present no proposal
to erect any buildings in the immediate future beyond
the temporary matshed structures referred to in Air
Ministry letter of the 6th April, 3.25972/S.6.
